A Gender Study of John Steinbeck's East of Eden: An Analysis of Cathy Ames, Sibling Rivalry, Marriage, Women, and Masculinity

An exploration into John Steinbeck's contribution to the ongoing conversation about the perspectives on marriage, women, and sibling rivalry as he presents them in East of Eden. His main antagonist, Cathy Ames, is discussed at length and presents a defense of the woman in question as a possible feminist figure as opposed to simply another villainous woman in literature.
