dc.description.abstract Jesse Stockton was born on December 17, 1896 on Horse Shoe Ranch in Kern County. Stockton recalls his early life in the mountains in the early 1900s and describes his memories of the environment, his family and friends, school activities, education, the early town of Bakersfield. Stockton came from a family of educated men and teachers, and served as the County School Superintendent like his father before him. en
